Director General of the Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard), Aboubacarr S Camara, has been honoured with the Best Tourism Public Sector Official Award at the 2025 Africa Tourism Awards (ATA). The recognition event, held on 2nd November at Hilton London Canary Wharf, was followed by a formal presentation on 5th November during the ongoing World Travel Market (WTM) at Excel London.
The prestigious ATA Balearica Award celebrates DG Camara’s exceptional leadership in steering The Gambia’s tourism sector towards growth, sustainability, and enhanced international visibility. His strategic efforts in promoting the country as a vibrant destination and implementing policies that encourage community participation and sectoral development have been widely acknowledged as transformative.
DG Camara received the award among other distinguished industry leaders recognized for shaping the future of African tourism.
