Africa-Press – Gambia. Impact Health The Gambia on Thursday delivered a substantial consignment of medical equipment and essential supplies to the Mandorry Clinic and the Salikenni community in the North Bank Region. The presentation, held in Mandorry, coincided with the inauguration of the newly constructed Mandorry Community Clinic—a facility fully funded and built by local residents.
The donation was coordinated by Impact Health The Gambia, a Minnesota-based nonprofit organization, with support from its network of donors and partner institutions in the United States. Among the items donated were vital signs monitors, computer monitors, drills, and crutches provided through the Mega Solution Foundation. Additional personal protective equipment was supplied by MATA to support frontline healthcare workers.
Speaking at the event, Abdou Wahab Manjang, founder and CEO of Impact Health The Gambia, noted that contributions from the Gambian diaspora in Minnesota and individual donors have strengthened the organization’s nationwide outreach over the past two years, enabling support to Mandorry, Salikeni, and several public hospitals.
Manjang reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to highlighting the positive impact of its donor community while continuing efforts to strengthen healthcare systems across the country. He explained that this latest donation is part of a broader initiative aimed at supporting underserved rural communities and ensuring frontline clinics have access to essential medical equipment.
“The past two years have been great. Getting these supplies here requires a lot of resources financially. And we are grateful for the Gambian community in Minnesota and our individual donors who made it possible to bring these supplies to the people of Mandorry and other public hospitals in The Gambia,” he said.
Representing the Minister of Health, Gibril Jarju, Director of Planning at the Ministry of Health, expressed appreciation to Impact Health for complementing government efforts to enhance healthcare service delivery. He also commended the Mandorry community for their dedication to building the new clinic.
“Your initiative perfectly reflects our national vision that every citizen, no matter where they live, should have access to quality and affordable healthcare,” he stated.
The Governor of the North Bank Region, Lamin Saidykhan, also praised Impact Health for its continued support and congratulated the community for successfully establishing the new healthcare facility.
“It is the responsibility of the Government to build hospitals, but they don’t have the capacity to build hospitals in every village. If citizens of Mandory decide to build the clinic on their own, that is very commendable,” he said.
