Africa-Press – Gambia. Dumbooto FC emerged victorious at the league final of the Honourable Mai Fatty-sponsored football tournament in Nyakoi, Kerewan, following a well-earned 3-1 win over Faradaala FC on Friday.
The final was held at the newly built mini stadium of the Gambia Football Federation in Nyakoi. Faradaala FC began the match strongly, putting pressure on Dumbooto’s defence. However, Dumbooto came alive in the 12th minute when Lamin Balisa opened the scoring with a brilliant finish.
Despite Faradaala’s persistent attacks, Dumbooto’s defence held firm. Ten minutes later, Musa Kijera doubled Dumbooto’s lead, only for Sainey Susso to pull one back for Faradaala with eight minutes remaining in the first half, keeping the contest alive.
In the second half, Faradaala pressed aggressively in search of an equaliser. Their attacking approach, however, left gaps at the back, which Dumbooto exploited. Saikou Kijera capitalised on the opportunity to score the third goal, securing a 3-1 victory and the highly coveted village tournament trophy.
The triumph capped off a memorable competition, showcasing the skill, resilience, and teamwork of Dumbooto FC, who held their composure under pressure to lift the trophy.
