NCAC Presents Football Gear to Buduck FC, Nianija

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Director General, National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC) recently handed over football gear to Buduck FC, at the Kerr Batch Stone Circle Site, Nianija. The gear was donated by Dr Adrien Delvoye, archaeologist at the University of Geneva, who is working with NCAC in archaeological research in the Stone Circle Sites.

Speaking at the ceremony, DG Ceesay explained that the gesture was part of the NCAC’s efforts to build strong community relations with heritage site host communities, as advised by UNESCO for its World Heritage Sites, and encouraged by the NCAC Board. We desire to involve communities in the proper upkeep of our sites. The youth are a critical pillar in this effort.

When a staff member of the NCAC, Ms. Habsa Yorke(1995-2025), who also hails from Buduck, extended your support request, the NCAC quickly went to work on the issue, and we are happy to hand over the gear from our collaborator, Dr. Adrien.

See this as the start of a meaningful cooperation. DG Ceesay enjoined the youths of Buduck and Kerr Batch to see the Stone Circle sites as theirs and assist in their preservation and interpretation. He promised that such efforts would continue

The gear was received by the Manager of Buduck FC, who commended the donor and NCAC for their support.

The Alkalo of Kerr Batch also added his voice to thank the NCAC and Dr Adrien for considering the host communities, and said it was a good move which has made them more involved in the protection of the Stone Circles.
