As part of its strides to enhance clean sports, fair play and integrity within Gambian athletics, the Gambia National Olympic Committee GNOC recently sent Kemo Marr and Ndey Fatou Ann to Nairobi, Kenya, to take part in the Zone V regional anti- doping organisation’s workshop for Doping Control Officer (DCOs).
The workshop was organised by the Africa Zone V Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (RADO) and the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK), with support from World anti-doping body WADA and Supersport
The event brought together Doping Control Officers (DCOs) from nine African nations — Burundi, Eritrea, The Gambia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda — marking the start of a regional capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening the fight for clean sports across Africa. The collaboration underscored the shared commitment to fair play, integrity, and excellence in sport across the region.
Following their accreditation, Kemo and Fatou became the first Gambians to be certified as DCOs and would now on be able to carry out formal testing of athletes on behalf of WADA for the Commonwealth Games, African championship games and the Olympics etc.
