Africa-Press – Gambia. The Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Demba Sabally, has firmly dismissed persistent rumors suggesting that former President Yahya Jammeh may return to The Gambia. Speaking in Foni Bullock during President Adama Barrow’s constitutionally mandated Meet the People Tour, Sabally assured residents that Jammeh’s comeback is neither imminent nor realistic.
“Yahya Jammeh will not be coming, not even next November,” Sabally told the crowd, accusing those circulating such claims of exploiting communities for personal gain. “Those selling Ashobees are the ones benefiting. They are deceiving you.”
He cautioned residents against participating in activities in Kanilai tied to Jammeh’s alleged return. “Anyone going to Kanilai for clearing exercises or anything else should know they are being misled. They are wasting your money on Ashobees, even taking loans just to cook for you,” he said.
Sabally urged the people of Foni to rally behind President Barrow, emphasizing, “President Barrow is our president, the president of The Gambia, until 2031.”
His remarks come amid renewed speculation about Jammeh’s possible return—rumors Sabally described as pure propaganda. “President Adama Barrow is the president of this country, and Yahya Jammeh will not return this November or the next,” he reiterated.
With the 2026 presidential election approaching, Sabally projected confidence in Barrow’s victory: “The 2026 election is already over. What remains is for the IEC to count and announce the results.”
