Unite Movement Seeks IEC Registration for Politics

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Unite Movement for Change (UNITE) is poised to take a significant step in its political evolution on Monday, December 1, 2025, when it formally submits its registration documents to the Independent Electoral Commission, a requirement for recognition as an official political party in The Gambia.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., at IEC’s regional office. UNITE leaders say the march is intended to reflect the grassroots energy that has fueled the movement’s emergence.

“This is a historic moment for our movement,” UNITE said in a statement, adding that its entry into the political arena aims to broaden participation in The Gambia’s democratic process.

Founded on calls for transparent governance, greater youth involvement, gender equity, and environmentally sustainable development, UNITE has gained visibility among young professionals and civic-minded activists. The movement has invited supporters, community leaders, and the general public to witness what it describes as a turning point in its political trajectory.

Accredited journalists have been encouraged to cover the event and to interview UNITE officials. For media coordination or interview requests, the movement provided the following contact number: 6744237.
