Africa-Press – Gambia. Minister of Youth and Sports, Bakary Y. Badjie, has revealed that the Independence Stadium repairment project is expected to finish by end of March 2026.
Badjie stated that the country’s biggest football arena will host international matches after the completion of the repairment works.
He pointed out that the timeline depends heavily on government funding.
Badjie stated that delayed in payments have already slowed the project, with October funds still pending.
He called for faster disbursements to keep contractors working at the Independence Stadium.
The Independence Stadium was banned from hosting international matches some years ago by Confederation of African Football (CAF) after failing to meet international requirements.
