GFF Explains Abandonment of Women’S League Match

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has clarified the circumstances that led to the abandonment of a Women’s First Division League match between Berewuleng and Greater Tomorrow FC.

The match, scheduled for Friday, 19 December 2025, at the Brikama Boxba Mini Stadium, was discontinued following a dispute over the eligibility of players registered by Greater Tomorrow FC.

In a statement, the GFF said preliminary investigations indicate that the issue arose from the failure of Greater Tomorrow FC to properly update the registration status of players Jubeh Colley and Mariama Juldeh Jallow in the FIFA Connect System. The two players were registered with the club in the previous season.

The Federation explained that, despite providing training and technical guidance to clubs on activating player profiles for the new season, the required renewals were not completed. As a result, Colley and Jallow, together with Fatou Jammeh, Janne Krubally, and Rugiyatou Cham, were not included on the official 2025 registration list.

The GFF emphasized that the FIFA Connect System is the mandatory global platform for player registration, and that clubs are responsible for ensuring full compliance with the system and the Federation’s guidelines.

The matter has been referred to the GFF’s competent judicial and organising bodies for further review. The Federation stated that it will consider match officials’ reports and all administrative evidence submitted by the parties before reaching a decision, in line with the GFF Constitution and League Regulations.

The GFF reaffirmed its neutrality in the case and said it would make no further comment until a final determination is made, while thanking the football community for its patience and cooperation.
