Africa-Press – Gambia. The leader of the Golden Era Party (GEP), Saikou Sawo, has articulated a bold and deliberate vision for the development of Brufut, stressing that the town’s transformation into a thriving urban centre will require intentional planning rather than happenstance.
In a statement outlining his vision for the town’s future, Mr. Sawo emphasised the importance of strategy and purposeful leadership. “Brufut will not become Dubai by chance, but by design,” he said, underscoring the need for a clear development framework and sustained commitment.
He noted that with a well-defined vision, world-class infrastructure, a strong rule of law, strategic partnerships, and disciplined execution, Brufut has the potential to emerge as a flagship city of opportunity. According to him, the goal is not to replicate the success of other global cities, but to pursue thoughtful, long-term nation-building.
“This is not about imitation, but intentional nation-building—thinking decades ahead and building with purpose, speed, and courage,” Mr. Sawo stated.
Meanwhile, earlier on Monday, January 19, 2026, the Golden Era Party announced its formal alliance with the People’s Progressive Party (PPP). The partnership is aimed at consolidating their collective efforts under a unified platform focused on national renewal and inclusive development.
