Africa-Press – Gambia. Hon. Almameh Gibba, National Assembly Member (NAM) for Foni Kansala, has dismissed social media speculation surrounding the nomination of Mr. Almameh J. Manga to The Gambia’s Anti-Corruption Commission, reaffirming that the appointment process was duly completed by Parliament.
In a statement published on his official Facebook page on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Hon. Gibba confirmed that Mr. Manga was thoroughly vetted and formally approved by the National Assembly.
“In light of the various stories circulating across social media platforms, I wish to clearly inform all Gambians that Mr. Almameh J. Manga has been duly vetted and his nomination confirmed for the Anti-Corruption Commission by us in Parliament,” Hon. Gibba stated.
The Foni Kansala legislator also issued a strong warning against any potential resignation by Mr. Manga, stressing that such a move would be deeply disappointing to his constituents.
“If Almameh J. Manga were ever to consider resigning from his position as a member of the Anti-Corruption Commission, I, Hon. Almameh Gibba, National Assembly Member for Foni Kansala, would call on our people and families to withdraw their support from him across the Foni Region and beyond,” he said, while urging Mr. Manga to remain steadfast and continue serving the nation with dedication.
Hon. Gibba emphasized that Parliament had faithfully discharged its constitutional mandate in approving the nomination, describing Mr. Manga as highly qualified for the role.
“Parliament has faithfully discharged its constitutional responsibility, and Mr. Manga’s record of excellence, dedication, and selfless service speaks for itself. His integrity and commitment to national service cannot be tarnished by unfounded claims or external influences,” he noted.
He further dismissed what he described as misleading online narratives, alleged deals, and so-called advisers, insisting that such claims do not alter the facts surrounding the nomination.
Reiterating his confidence in the nominee, Hon. Gibba described Mr. Manga as a respected senior law enforcement officer.
“Mr. Almameh J. Manga, a respected senior law enforcement officer, remains steadfast. His nomination stands confirmed, and he now awaits his official appointment letter to commence his trusted duty in service to our beloved motherland, The Gambia,” he concluded.
