UGF Calls Leader Gambia'S Guiding Light before Elections

Africa-Press – Gambia. The opposition party United Gambian Front (UGF) has called its leader, Bakary K. Badjie, as a “guiding light” for the country, saying his leadership represents hope, justice and meaningful change for Gambians.

In a message addressed to the nation, the party said 2026 should mark not just another year but a new direction towards improved governance and national progress.

The UGF stated that many citizens had faced prolonged hardship while political promises remained unfulfilled. He stresses the need for leadership that listens to the people and delivers tangible results.

According to the party, Badjie’s vision focuses on addressing key national priorities, including quality education, job creation, social cohesion and governance that respect the voices of all citizens.

The statement added that trust in leadership must be earned through actions rather than words, describing Badjie as a leader who engages directly with communities and promotes youth empowerment, respect for elders and inclusive governance.

“The light ahead is a reminder that better days are possible if Gambians stand together and choose the right direction,” the party said.

The UGF also called on citizens to unite and actively participate in shaping the country’s future.

Meanwhile, the party said it had recently embarked on a nationwide tour aimed at strengthening its grassroots presence ahead of the country’s December presidential elections.
