Africa-Press – Gambia. The Unite for Nation Integrity, Transformation and Equality (UNITE) on Friday, 3 April 2026, distributed three new pick-up trucks to three key regions — Banjul, Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), and West Coast Region — to strengthen its grassroots mobilization efforts.
The latest allocation brings the total number of vehicles to eight, covering all eight regions in the country. The move underscores UNITE’s strategic investment in reinforcing its structures at the local level. The handover ceremony brought together senior party executives, National Assembly representatives, regional chairpersons, and party members in the KMC region.
Speaking at the presentation at the UNITE KMC Bureau in Fajara, UNITE President Talib Bensouda said the vehicles would facilitate outreach, bridge gaps, and ensure timely coordination. He highlighted the movement’s rapid growth, noting that within its first year, UNITE has gained more recognition than political parties that have existed in The Gambia for two decades. “Every region, constituency, ward or village you point to today, people are aligning with UNITE. This is a success other parties with twenty years could not achieve,” he said.
Bensouda added that the distribution of pick-up trucks would continue, targeting additional key regions, and pledged further allocations to accelerate the movement’s expansion and visibility.
Ebrima Dibba, a diaspora representative for UNITE, described the distribution as both a celebration and a “call to action” for party members. He urged members, particularly the youth, to engage actively in community outreach. “I call on the youth of this movement. Let’s tighten our belts and engage house to house,” he said.
The delivery of the new vehicles marks a pivotal step for UNITE, reinforcing its commitment to investing in the infrastructure of political engagement.
