Africa-Press – Gambia. Gambian midfielder Haruna Rashid Njie made a notable return to league action with FK RFS as they secured a 2-1 victory over FK Tukums 2000 in a closely contested match.
Njie, a former captain of Gunjur United and ex-midfielder for BST Galaxy, had been sidelined in recent weeks, missing five consecutive league matches due to injury.
He returned to action late in the game, featuring for approximately 15 minutes and making an immediate impact. The Gambian international nearly marked his comeback with a goal, connecting with a cross through a close-range header that went narrowly wide, striking the side netting.
Despite the missed chance, Njie’s brief appearance demonstrated signs of sharpness and determination, offering encouragement as he works towards full match fitness. His return is expected to strengthen RFS in midfield as the team continues its league campaign.
