The statement indicated that the leaders renewed their commitment to accelerate the implementation of major projects aimed at enhancing communication between the two countries, facilitating the free movement of people and goods, and supporting economic integration for the benefit of both peoples.

The Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in its statement, emphasized that the presidents stressed the importance of continuing and intensifying cooperation between the defense and security forces of both countries to effectively address cross-border challenges, including organized crime, illicit trafficking, violent extremism, and threats to regional stability.

The ministry added that both sides also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest, reiterating their commitment to the principles of peace, stability, democracy, good neighborliness, and solidarity within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the African Union, and the United Nations.

According to the statement, “The President of The Gambia expressed his deep gratitude to the President of Senegal, and to the government and people of Senegal, for the warm welcome and brotherly hospitality extended to him and his accompanying delegation.”
