Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia Immigration Department (GID) has announced a sharp increase in the cost of biometric passports, raising the fee from D3,060 to D5,100, effective May 1, 2025.

The new pricing structure, approved by the Cabinet and communicated by the Ministry of Interior, includes D100 for the passport application form and D5,000 for the passport booklet. Payments are to be made exclusively through EcoBank Gambia Ltd.

“In reference to a correspondence from the Ministry of Interior dated 10th April 2025, the Gambia Immigration Department (GID) wishes to inform all Gambians that the processing fees for Biometric Passport have been increased from three thousand and sixty dalasi (D3,060) to five thousand and one hundred dalasi (D5,100), effective 1st May 2025. In accordance with Cabinet approval and a subsequent communiqué from the Ministry, the revised fees comprise D100 for the passport form and D5,000 for the passport booklet, payable at EcoBank Gambia Ltd,” GID said.

In a statement released Wednesday, the GID said the adjustment is in line with contractual obligations outlined in Addendum No. 1 to the 2013 Concession Agreement between the Government of The Gambia and Africard Gambia Ltd. The provision cited—Article 5.7.1(d)—permits periodic fee revisions under the terms of the agreement.
