Africa-Press – Gambia. The Commissioner General of the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), Yankuba Darboe, on Thursday disclosed that the authority has generated D6.7Billion in January, February and March respectively.
He disclosed this during a press conference held at GRA headquarters in Banjul on 3rd April 2025.
He further disclosed that the authority collected D2.6 billion, representing the highest ever monthly collection in the history of the GRA. “GRA collected D2.2Billion in January, D1.8Billion in February and D2.6Billion in March,” he noted.
“The Authority is tasked to collect D23 billion by the end of 2025, averaging nearly D2 billion monthly.
This follows the successful collection of over D20.83 billion in 2024, exceeding a previous target of D19.2 billion in 2024 by more than D1 billion, the GRA Commissioner highlighted.
The Authority recorded a nominal revenue growth of 32%, with the Domestic Taxes Department and Customs and Excise Department growing by 27% and 36%, respectively. With the D D6.7 billion collected, the authority has D16.3 billion more to collect to meet its target.
Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe told journalists the impressive collection is attributable to the digital reforms.
“For instance, we have realised a lot revenue from the fuel marking. We were able to collect over D1.3 billion in 2025 alone from that tax line,” he said.
CG Darboe disclosed that the GRA and the Ministry of Finance have signed an addendum contract on the revenue assurance, which has to do with the telecoms and the rental income platform.
“This will ensure more revenue assurance from those tax lines. It will also help to close gaps in terms of the linkages,” he said.
He said the rental income tax will be implemented by the 1st of May, adding that the authority is working on introducing several reforms to further boost revenue collection.
