Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>\u201cI was not invited and up to 11:30 of the eve of the inauguration, I was in my sitting room watching television. I came out before I went to bed to ask my guards whether there was anybody who brought any invitation or any letter, they told me no,\u201d Hon. Darboe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd in the morning by 9:00 o\u2019clock, I went down and asked if any letter has been brought for me, I was told no. So, I was not invited maybe because I was regarded as a contestant, or that I was the one who opposed president Adama. Maybe that is why they didn\u2019t invite me.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, veteran politician noted that as a former vice president of the country, he thought he should have been invited in view of the capacity he previously held.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a former Vice President, forget about the fact that I contested election with President Adama Barrow. Forget about that. I would have thought that as a former Vice President I would be invited in that capacity. But again that was not done,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I did not attend because I was not treated as a former Vice President and I was not treated as a contestant. Maybe if I have congratulated President Adama Barrow, I would have been invited.\u201d<\/p>\n

The leader added that even during former President Jammeh reign, he had always been attending matters linked to the state (official Functions), saying it was only party functions such as the 22nd July celebrations that he had refused to attend during that time.<\/p>\n
