Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Goodwill Ambassador for Sports, H.E Tijan Jaiteh has said that the upcoming Norway Cup tournament can help the development of Gambian sports as it started from the grassroots.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Jaiteh who has been appointed as the official representative of the Norway Cup for The Gambia was speaking in an exclusive interview with The Point Sports on Monday when he made these remarks.<\/p>\n

The Norway Cup tournament is the world\u2019s largest football tournament held each year since 1972. A record 1800 clubs have taken part in the competition, featuring 30, 000 players from over 50 countries across the world. This year\u2019s tournament which is for the Under 15 boys and girls is due to be held in July in Oslo, Norway.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Norway Cup tournament is one of the perfect competitions where The Gambia can use to develop its sports. This tournament is in the right direction to help in the development of Gambian sports because it starts from the grassroots,\u201d he further said.<\/p>\n

According to him, Gambia\u2019s participation in the Norway Cup is a very good thing for The Gambia and youth who are going to be selected to represent the country. \u201cThe magnitude of this tournament being the biggest youth tournament in the world will help participating youth to develop and showcase their talents.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that the tournament could help the youth to gain more exposure, noting that it would also help them to see other cultures as well because they will be seeing other teams from other countries.<\/p>\n
