Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The 32-year-old was full of emotions as he dedicated the moment to his late grandmother and uncle. \u201cI am now retiring from national team duties as your captain and I have handed over the responsibility to Omar Colley who has proven beyond reasonable doubt to lead the team forward,\u201d said Pa Modou Jagne on Monday.<\/p>\n

Nda assured the players and Gambians that he has retired but would never be tired of supporting the team in any way possible. A soft spoken Captain, Jagne was full of praise of The Gambia Football Federation, his former and current teammates, the government, coaches, fans, the media, friends and all Gambians for the support throughout his journey.<\/p>\n

Bakary Y. Badjie, minister of Youths and Sports, described Jagne as a true leader known for his consistency, honesty, nationalism and patriotism while assuring him of the Ministry\u2019s support in his future endeavours.<\/p>\n

Hon. Badjie further said that Pa Modou Jagne can be Gambia\u2019s Alieu Cisse of Senegal if he works hard to achieve and prove himself in his future endeavours.<\/p>\n

Bakary Jammeh, GFF 1st Vice President also highlighted Jagne\u2019s immense contribution and dedication to the national jersey, describing his 17 years\u2019 journey as full of selfless service to the country\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, his family praised him for his discipline and love for country in a video. He was also presented with an art work of himself made by an artist Abdoulie Bah alias Palie Bah. Pa Modou Jagne currently plays for Swiss fifth division side FC Dietikon.<\/p>\n
