Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Gambia Teachers Union (GTU) in a memorandum to teachers in all public schools and the public said on the balance of evidence they received feedback from their members that teachers in all affected regions have now been paid their Covid-19 allowances.<\/p>\n

However, GTU advised teachers to draw the attention of their respective regional chairpersons or the Office of the General Secretary for redress in case of any omissions.<\/p>\n

With the development, GTU General Secretary Marie Antoinette Corr, said the industrial action sanctioned earlier has been revoked effective Tuesday 15th February 2022. She therefore requested teachers to return to work with immediate effect and continue doing their best.<\/p>\n

The Union thanked the public for their understanding and called on all stakeholders to work with them to avert the reoccurrence of such in the future.<\/p>\n

The Union also renewed its commitment and resolve in safeguarding its principles and commitment to pupils\/students, the profession and society at large. It concluded by thanking government and the general membership in particular, for their cooperation and support throughout the specific journey.<\/p>\n
