Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Gambia\u2019s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has announced the launch of its 2022 licensing round for Block A1, following the exit of bp from the block last August.<\/p>\n

The deadline for proposals from interested parties is June 6, with prospective bidders invited to download the Request for Proposal (RFP) published on the Ministry\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

To streamline the process, the country\u2019s Petroleum Commission has prepared an online data room, the E-Bid Platform, through which bidders can download the RFP, reference relevant legislation and Petroleum, Exploration and Production License Agreements, and access documents that may assist in the preparation of their proposal, as well as submit their proposals electronically.<\/p>\n

In light of the SNE and FAN discoveries in neighboring Senegal, The Gambia has emerged as a promising major oil play, with offshore acreage providing a number of leads and prospects similar to plays along the West Africa margin that are already in development.<\/p>\n
