Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Barrow made his statement during the 57th independence celebration held in Banjul while continuing that through renewed partnerships with development partners, his government would work towards consolidating the gains made over the years for the attainment of quality education at every level of the education cycle.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage all students to take advantage of the government\u2019s efforts to create the required conducive environment for effective teaching and learning, in addition to the well-trained teachers and educational materials continually provided to enhance both student and teacher performance. You are assured of a brighter future,\u201d noting that \u201cthe ground is level enough for you to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President further stated that scholarships, employment and other income-earning opportunities are available to help the students become productive members of society. He encouraged the students to take their education with utmost seriousness and commitment.<\/p>\n

Dwelling on the security sector, he said the security services continue to keep the peace, secure our borders and assets, maintain law and order, and go the extra mile to entertain us with their joyful melodies. \u201cWith assurances of our appreciation, support, and love for them, I thank them immensely for their impressive parade and encourage them to remain alert.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the country\u2019s football team, he said \u201cour formidable Scorpions deserve to be mentioned on this special Day as national heroes. They continue to fly the national flag high, and make us proud by performing beyond expectations in Cameroon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barrow congratulated the entire nation on Independence Day and thanked all those who continue to help pursue the dream of transforming The Gambia into a desirable democratic and prosperous nation.<\/p>\n
