Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Gambian laureate is regarded as the youngest dominant figure in modern Gambian and African literature. In an interview with The Point, Sowe described the achievement as another win for The Gambia.<\/p>\n

According to him, “Whenever I write, you are literally going to read three things: art, music and literature.\u201d He added that, as long as he served his country, he would continue to work to help others to see our common humanity and find common ground.<\/p>\n

His first play and magnum opus, The Throne of The Ghost published in 2016 in the USA by the African Books Collective occupies a pivotal place in African literature and remains the most widely studied, taught, and read African drama across the world.<\/p>\n

Sowe is the founder of the Young Writers\u2019 Association of The Gambia (YWAG) and former Secretary-General of the Writers\u2019 Association of The Gambia (WAG).<\/p>\n

He is the current Executive Director of the World Writers\u2019 Association (WoWA). He authored \u2018Don\u2019t Judge The Book By The Cover\u2019, \u2018AfriKa Not AfriCa\u2019, \u2018The Throne of The Ghost\u2019 and \u2018The Memories of Reflection\u2019.<\/p>\n

He started writing at the age of 14 and won the prize for Best Young Gambian Writer of The Year 2019. Mr Sowe is also the WAG Laureate for Children\u2019s Literature 2019.<\/p>\n

Modou Lamin Sowe was featured in TWAWEZA, an anthology of 24 African Non-Fiction Stories published by the African Writers Development Trust (AWDT) during the PenPen Africa Writers Residency held in Abuja, Nigeria.<\/p>\n

He recently won an award for excellence for his contributions to African literature presented to him by the International Association of African Authors and Scholars (IAAAS), Atlanta, USA.<\/p>\n
