Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Trust Bank Gambia has awarded top 10 outstanding students of the 2021 GABECE (grade 9 exams) as part of the bank\u2019s traditional Excellence in the Millennium Awards that aims at recognising and motivate the students for their incredible performance.<\/p>\n

Each awardee received a certificate, D10,000 prize money in the form of a Trust Bank student savings account and a brand new tablet. Gambia Methodist Academy received D35,000 in the combined category for producing the candidate with the best result and school with the highest number of awardees. Consequently, Suwadou Jammeh of Gambia Methodist Academy additionally received D8,000 as student with the best result.<\/p>\n

Other distinguished awardees are: Salieu Njie of St Therese\u2019s Upper Basic, Musa Tamba of St Peters Upper Basic, Bubacarr Baldeh of Anne Marie Javouhey, Ibrahim Faal of Gambia Methodist Academy, Pateh Bah of Kunkujang Keitaya Upper Basic, Yusupha Kandeh of Malada Upper Basic, Baba Samura of Brikama Upper Basic, Khadija Jammeh of Wordsley Upper Basic and Ida Sonko of Brufut Upper Basic.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a colourful ceremony at the Atlantic Hotel in Banjul Friday, Trust Bank managing director Njilan Senghore, congratulated these achieving boys and girls for their achievement, calling it an evidence of \u201cstrive for excellence, discipline, diligence and hard work\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ms Senghore who was appointed Trust Bank head in January 2022 having served over a decade, said the Excellence in the Millennium Awards is a testament of the bank\u2019s very serious desire to create a positive social contribution in the field of education.<\/p>\n

She expressed her hope that the celebration of the academic excellence will help motivate the awardees to keep striving for excellence and encourage other students to aspire to always attain excellence.<\/p>\n

Deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Adama Jobe, described Trust Bank as a reliable partner of MoBSE in its strive towards improving quality and relevant education. DPS Jobe urged the awardees to continue the same level of academic success.<\/p>\n

WAEC representative, Bokary Secka, disclosed that the awardees have been chosen from a total of 26,591 candidates who sat for the exam, adding that their works passed through various stages of quality control and validation before the final list was compiled.<\/p>\n

Mr Secka congratulated the parents and teachers of the awardees for the sacrifice and guidance. The conference of principals representing 286 principals in The Gambia conferred a prestigious award of appreciation on Trust Bank for contributing to the delivery of quality education in The Gambia.<\/p>\n
