Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gambians Abroad has said the returned two Gambian students, Amadou Bah and Sering Mass Laye, have been given \u20ac250 each, as in allowance for five days. The two opted to return home after being evacuated from war torn Ukraine to Slovakia before boarding Turkish Airline to Banjul.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing their evacuation to Poland and Slovakia, they were offered Five (5) nights hotel accommodation and 5 days daily subsistence allowance of \u20ac50 each per day,\u201d the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Amadou Bah said, a returned Gambian student said: \u201cThere is hardship and killings in Ukraine,\u201d noted that \u201cIt was very hard in Ukraine but thank God we were evacuated nicely.\u201d<\/p>\n

He thanked the Government of The Gambia through the Mission in Brussels for providing accommodation, means of subsistence, and facilitating their safe return home.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank the Gambian population at large, the Government and a special thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gambian Embassy in Brussels. They have done a great job,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Musa Camara, Director of Diaspora and Migration Directorate under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked the Mission for assisting the Gambian students by giving them guidance on safety zones, transportation networks, border crossing points and to come home. The Gambia government noted that at least 44 Gambians have so far made it to safety in other European nations.<\/p>\n
