Chinese Embassy in Banjul, Tuesday hosted their first open day activity in the form of photo exhibition, to provide a platform for Gambian friends from all walks of life and the Chinese community to learn about developments in China and China-Gambia and China-Africa cooperation.<\/p>\n
The photo exhibition show the display of 100 pictures, including what is called beautiful China, technology and culture, China\u2019s development achievements from 1949-2012 and China-Africa friendly cooperation.<\/p>\n
It also show the long history and profound culture of China from various aspects, reflecting tremendous achievements of the People\u2019s Republic of China since her founding, record of important events of the comprehensive and rapid development of China-Gambia and China-Africa relations and presents wonderful moments of the Embassy\u2019s external activities.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Ma Jianchun said; \u201cToday, the Chinese Embassy in Banjul has open its doors and welcome the public to come for a tour to interact with Chinese diplomats and to experience a themed passivity in The Gambian culture exhibition, displaying China\u2019s symbolic scenery, traditional culture, modern history and contemporary society.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said it has been three years and a half since China and The Gambia resumed diplomatic relations. \u201cI am happy to note that today, Gambian people have much more knowledge about China than they had, three and a half year ago. Since 2016, many Gambians of diverse background have visited China in person and brought back their own China stories,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Jianchun explained that before, they share few Gambian stories to the people in China, and now with the coming of Chinese doctors, scholars, agricultural experts and construction team, among others to The Gambia, they are making new friends in local communities every day. \u201cThese people to people interactions brought China and The Gambia closer to each other, encouraging understanding between the two countries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He further stated that the open day almost coincided with their celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People\u2019s Republic of China, saying part of the exhibition focused on the Chinese history on how it developed from the so-called \u2018sick\u2019 man of East Asia to world second largest economy and a moderately prosperous society today.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Jianchun said the 70th year was full of domestic and foreign challenges on many fronts, saying looking at China\u2019s uphill development journey, people can draw much inspiration over the 70 years. \u201cChina\u2019s development has always been with support from African partners and the time China was contributing to the development of African countries.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
