Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The mega project includes the provision of borehole water supply system, fencing of the premises, toilets and ablution facilities, Qur\u2019anic memorization boarding school with living quarters, teachers living quarters, kitchens and learning shelter and four shops for income generation to support the running cost of the facilities.<\/p>\n

The project was highly welcomed by the community, which was longing for such a big Masjid to accommodate its growing inhabitants. The inauguration was attended by a delegation from Gamleicester from the United Kingdom, government officials, worshippers from the neighborhoods and abroad.<\/p>\n

At the occasion, Yunus Ahmed, the founder of Gamleicester Trust Charity said the entire complex was sponsored by Fareed Moosa and his family from South Africa as charity \u201cSadaqatul-Jariyah\u201d for his mother, Hawa Moosa and late father Adam Moosa.<\/p>\n

Mr. Ahmed underscored the importance of the facility and rewards attached to building a mosque, as quoted by Prophet Muhammad S.A.W that \u201cwhoever builds a Masjid in which the name of Allah is mentioned, Allah will build a house for him in Paradise\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cMyself and the team have examined the progress of the construction from the inception in December 2020 to date. Our objective was to provide a solid foundation for the community.\u201d He then appealed to the management committee and the community to look after the Masjid and the entire facilities for it to serve its purpose.<\/p>\n

Alh. Abubacar Jaiteh, the project coordinator said that Gamleicester Trust Charity, said the NGO does humanitarian works and religious activities, includes erection of mosques, Qur\u2019anic schools, food distributions, borehole drilling for rural communities as well as helping poor and needy families.<\/p>\n

He said the project registered in The Gambia over two years ago, has built numerous masjids across the nation with other humanitarian interventions. Gamleicester Project manager, Buba Jammeh said that objectives of the project include bringing Islamic knowledge to the doorsteps of the orphanages by building Qur\u2019anic memorisation school and to promote Islam in the communities among others.<\/p>\n

The Latriya Central Masjid Imam Ratib, Alhagie Muhammad Salihu Jallow, thanked the project members and the sponsors for the gesture while urging the community to further unite as one \u201cUmmah\u201d family with the same objectives as far as Islam is concerned.<\/p>\n

Ebrima Darboe, alkalo of the community, said the project is \u2018dream come true\u2019 for his community, considering the fact that this was first time such a mega project has been erected in Latriya. He then thanked Gamleicester and the sponsors for their efforts. The Sermon \u201cKhutba\u201d was delivered by Sheiq Essa Darboe.<\/p>\n
