{"id":1351,"date":"2019-10-01T14:45:52","date_gmt":"2019-10-01T14:45:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/gambia\/?p=1351"},"modified":"2019-10-01T14:45:52","modified_gmt":"2019-10-01T14:45:52","slug":"gap-unveils-gen-lamin-bojang-as-leader","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/all-news\/gap-unveils-gen-lamin-bojang-as-leader","title":{"rendered":"GAP Unveils Gen Lamin Bojang as Leader"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Musa Batchilly, the secretary general of the Gambia Action Party yesterday announced that General Lamin Bojang, a former Commander of the Gambia Armed Forces is the party\u2019s candidate for the 2021 presidential election without his consent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Addressing a press conference at QCity, Mr Batchilly said although the decision was taken without Mr Bojang\u2019s consent, he is confident that he (Bojang) will accept the offer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is hoped that he will accept our selection and lead our party to victory.<\/p>\n<p>The Gambia Action Party has decided to select Mr Bojang not only based on the qualifications and experiences, but also his passion and determination to work for this country and for the people of our mother land, The Gambia,\u201d he told journalists at the unveiling.<\/p>\n<p>Batchilly went: \u201cWe assure the party supporters and entire Gambians that Mr Bojang is the solution to all problems we are facing today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said only the right caliber people can take the country out of the troubles it is facing.<br \/>\n\u201cAnd I want to say that GAP will win the next presidential election. We will rule this country, there is no doubt about that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The new candidate, Bojang, was born on 5 January, 1969 in Brufut Kombo North, West Coast Region. He attended Brufut Primary school from 1975 to 1984 and after Saint Peter\u2019s high school, Gambia College of Nursing and Midwifery from 1989 to 1992 and graduated as a State Registered Nurse.<\/p>\n<p>He studied Public Administration and Management at Higher Diploma and Post Graduate Degree level respectively at Ghana Institute for Management and Public Administration at (GIMPA).<\/p>\n<p>He also studied defence and conflict management, crisis management, integrated peace support operations, PSO development and logistics planning and negotiations at GIMPA. He studied senior leadership course (SLC) at Africa Center for Strategic Studies and currently studying international affairs, majoring in leadership and diplomacy. He serves as Gambia\u2019s Consul General in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and currently the deputy head of mission in Russia.
