Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The donation was part of their annual Ramadan support to vulnerable Muslims across the world during the holy month of Ramadan. The distribution was coordinated by Cemiyetul Hayr Relief Organisation (CHRO-Gambia).<\/p>\n

Speaking at various distribution centres, the country director, CHRO-Gambia, Musa Jallow disclosed that this year the total amount spent on 2022 Ramadan gifts was valued at 3.4 millon dalasis.<\/p>\n

According to him, the total amount spent only on food items for 2022 annual Ramadan package was 2.9 million dalasis the amount on iftar meals was is 300,000, dalasis while orphans cloths is 148,000 dalasis.<\/p>\n

Mr. Jallow further stated that iftar meals were delivered at Tallinding Islamic Institute in the KMC and Janjangbureh at the Governor\u2019s Office and over five hundred people benefited from the gesture. He also stated that this year 100 orphans benefited from Ramadan support funded by IHHNL and Kumbet Organisation all Holland based NGOs.<\/p>\n

Mr. Jallow further said CHRO is a charitable organisation collaborating with IHH Netherlands in helping the needy in The Gambia. According to the country director, in 2003, IHHNL came back to work with CHRO because they had learnt how CHRO operates and were satisfied.<\/p>\n

In that respect, he said, the two organisations, IHHNL and CHRO, re-started their operations and went into formal agreement with all codes of conduct to be adhered by both organisations.<\/p>\n

For his part, the governor of Central River Region Hon. Abba Sanyang commended the donors particularly Musa Jallow the country director for CHRO in ensuing that vulnerable Gambians benefit from this goodwill gesture. He said that support had come at the right time to the right people when needy Gambians are struggling to meet their daily meal. He said this support will go a long way in helping families during this holy Month of Ramadan. He described Musa Jallow as a patriotic Gambian and worthy of commendation. He called on other potential Gambians to emulate Musa Jallow to better support the needy Muslims Gambians.<\/p>\n

At least 1,822 families benefited. The beneficiaries were Chisen Majam village in Jokadou which received 100 sets of sugar, rice and oil, Daranka in West Coast Region received 122 sets of rice, sugar and oil, , KMC and WCR received 600 sets of sugar, rice and oil, and Sami District in CRR received 1,000 sets of rice, sugar and oil.<\/p>\n
