Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Honourable Muhammed Kanteh, National Assembly member for Busumbala, has accused the parliament selective committee of being bias in their selection of committees members.<\/p>\n

Honourable Kanteh, a former Police officer was speaking during the controversal selection of new deputy speaker, Honourble Seedy SK Njie as chairperson of the parliament standing committee on defense and security.<\/p>\n

According to him, it would not be fair for his pedigree with a good background in security with Masters Degree in law to be answerbale to someone who has no secuirty background.<\/p>\n

Honourable Kanteh told the National Assembly saying \u201cYes, we would have said there are methodologies in term of selecting members. One of those methodologies is by looking at the background information of that individual (reffering to Seedy Njie), it would not be fair enough for someone with a secuirty background, with a Masters and LLB to be anwserable to someone who does not have a security background.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can work with him provided that there is no sense of bias that has been played within the selection process. But at this point in time, I would advice the selection committee to go and adhere to principle and the grounds that they have laid down as a way of selecting process,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

However, \u201cI must acknowledge the process that has been taken by the members of the selection committee and they have taken their time to come up with this far and gave us names. But notwithstanding, they need to do it properly and do it better.\u201d<\/p>\n
