Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>She is currently playing for FC Luzern, a football club in Switzerland. She was born in Norway on 5th August 2002 by a Gambian mother and a Norwegian father.<\/p>\n

While at her tender age, Haleema and her mother moved to Switzerland. When she was 14 years old she returned to Norway and spent about four years before she took the decision that she wants to play football in Switzerland where she is currently plying her trade.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a pretty good life growing up. Obviously I moved back and ford a lot but it forced me to have the ability to adopt to different people and places quickly,\u201d he said, adding that, it is not always difficult for her to adapt when she moves to a new club.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a young girl growing up, all I dreamt of was to be a professional footballer,\u201d she stated, noting that, living with her half-sister (Tabara) who as well had so much passion for the game helped a lot in her career.<\/p>\n

According to her, her main motivation to become a footballer was inspired by retired Scorpions\u2019 midfielder Ebrima Sohna. Haleema said her parents are very helpful and supportive with in her career.<\/p>\n

Froiland\u2019s first football team was FC Kussnacht. While at FC Kussnacht she had the chance to train with the boys\u2019 team, something she describes as “improved me a lot.” It also gave her the chance to train with the regional team in Switzerland.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight before the trials with the Swizz national team we moved to Norway where there are nany female football teams. So I just joined a local team, then trained with boys\u2019 academic teams in Norway, and later moved to the girls\u2019 academic team. At age 16 they let me joined a top women\u2019s team.\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n

Haleema Hamilton, a very creative midfielder who enjoys playing behind the striker, where she can link deadly passes to the center forwards, with all these brilliant techniques and skills chooses to play for The Gambia senior female national team.<\/p>\n

She said she chose to play for The Gambia because she feels so connected to the West African country. \u201cPretty much all my family is from The Gambia and family is so important for me. So I feel I should represent them in a way. It is not only about family. I love the culture, the food and people here are nice,\u2019\u2019 she explained.<\/p>\n

While growing up Haleema had some idols, one of which she said is the five time Ballon D\u2019or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and her favorite football team is Manchester United.<\/p>\n

Haleema drop a piece of advice for fellow girls who dream of making it in the game by urging them to enjoy doing it while being committed. Haleema Hamilton thanked The Gambia Football Federation for giving her the chance to represent her country while urging them to invest more in women football.<\/p>\n
