Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Former junta member Yankuba Touray has appealed his death sentence at the Gambia Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n

In July last year, Yankuba Touray was found guilty of the murder of Ousman Koro Ceesay and sentenced to death by hanging.<\/p>\n

However, his case came up for mention at the Appeals Court yesterday presided over by Justice Sallah-Wadda.<\/p>\n

A Sissohor appeared for Yankuba Touray while Senior State Counsel Muhammed B Sowe appeared for the State.<\/p>\n

The Court noted that the appeal is a fresh matter.<\/p>\n

It confirmed from both parties that they have been served with the Records of Proceedings.<\/p>\n

Senior State Counsel Muhammed B.<\/p>\n

Sowe informed the court that he needed a week to go through the records.<\/p>\n

This was granted.<\/p>\n

The case is adjourned to 13th June 2022 for ordering of briefs on the appeal.<\/p>\n

Justices Mahoney and Roche are the other judges.<\/p>\n
