{"id":17232,"date":"2022-06-10T12:20:43","date_gmt":"2022-06-10T12:20:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/uncategorized\/educationists-recommend-hybrid-distance-learning-model"},"modified":"2022-06-10T12:45:08","modified_gmt":"2022-06-10T12:45:08","slug":"educationists-recommend-hybrid-distance-learning-model","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/all-news\/educationists-recommend-hybrid-distance-learning-model","title":{"rendered":"Educationists recommend hybrid distance learning model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Educationists have recommended a hybrid of learning model to be used in delivering a Distance Learning program for the Gambia during a three-day consultative meeting on Distance learning held in Mansakonko, LRR<\/p>\n<p>The meeting brought together a cross section of participants drawn from different Institutions and Directorates under MoBSE to discuss and recommend an ideal Distance Learning Model that will inform the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in its quest to develop a Distance Learning Policy and Strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Bakary Ceesay, Director of Science &amp; Technology Education Directorate (STED) of MoBSE reaffirmed that, Distance Learning Education is at the heart of MoBSE\u2019s policy objectives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is very difficult to implement an effective Distance Learning Education without an elaborate Distance Learning policy and strategy and that is why his directorate deems it necessary to discuss with stakeholders on how to make the education system resilient and ensure the continuity of learning even in the face of emergency situations like the COVID-19 Pandemic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that a detailed distance learning policy will not only help to guide the Distance Learning Education service delivery within the remit of the law, but will design a very systematic way of delivering the Distance Learning Education Program in the Gambia.<\/p>\n<p>The three days engagement witness a series of group discussions and insightful presentations on how to Design and Implement a Comprehensive Distance Learning Strategy by Mucktarr YM Darboe of MoHERST and a presentation on the Three Models of Distance Learning by Dr Babou Joof of STED\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy the end of the consultative meeting, all the participants recommended the Hybrid\/Blended learning model to be used in delivering a Distance Learning program for the Gambia.
