Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha has assured The Gambian President Adama Barrow that member nations will support the West African nation for the successful hosting of the Islamic Summit in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia.<\/p>\n

The remarks were made by the OIC leader Friday when he held a meeting with The Gambian President Barrow at State House in Banjul. The Islamic Summit is tentatively scheduled to be held later this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI came to lend my support and that of the Organization to President Barrow. It is obvious that all the members are supporting Gambia\u2019s candidature to host the Summit,\u201d said Secretary-General Taha following his closed-door meeting with Barrow.<\/p>\n

He expects the technical team to arrive in Banjul soon to assess the level of preparedness, based on which the date and month of the conference will be set.<\/p>\n

<\/a>The Gambian leader pledged the country\u2019s commitment to hosting the high-level gathering, saying that there is a range of ongoing preparatory efforts to deliver a successful event.<\/p>\n

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, founded in 1969 with headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is an intergovernmental organization comprising 57 member countries. Enditem<\/p>\n
