Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Middle East is a place where most Gambian youths, mostly girls were trafficked for domestic work upon arrival. They were exposed to hard labour, whilst some experience sexual harassment.<\/p>\n

According to the foundation, the hard labour imposed on them without enough rest has caused some health complications for most of them, adding their return was facilitated and fully funded by the Foundation Against Trafficking and Irregular Migrations (FATIM).<\/p>\n

“This time FATIM was able to purchase for two girls and will arrive in Dakar on the 18th of June, whilst (NAATIP) National Agency Against Trafficking In Person is facilitating the transportation from Dakar to The Gambia. We will still continue to engage the government, organisations, and individuals to assist in repatriating the rest of the girls.”<\/p>\n

However, the media will only be allowed on Tuesday evening 20th June from 16:00hrs to 18:00 for interviews as no further interviews will be allowed. According to the foundation, this is to help in counseling the girls, help get some medical attention and allow them to join their families<\/p>\n

“We want to express our profound thanks to NAATIP for their swift intervention and hope that the government, organisations, and individuals will join us to bring other suffering Gambian girls home from the Middle East.”<\/p>\n
