Medical Research Council (MRC) The Gambia unit and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Wednesday held a day-long open\u00a0forum for primordial pregnancy study in mothers relating to diabetes interventions in low income countries.<\/p>\n

The forum that brought participants from all over West Coast Region was held at the Brikama District Hospital.<\/p>\n

This is the first time the health researcher is introducing the study to the community of Brikama and its environment and the first investigation to evaluate the effects of fermented yoghurt and physical activity initiated in early and continued pregnancy on incidence of gestational diabetes in low and middle income countries.<\/p>\n

Ratatouille Jobe, administrative officer of Brikama District Hospital said the project was timely, saying that the relationship between MRC and Brikama District Hospital is a long outstanding one.<\/p>\n

Representative of the regional health director 2, Rose Mendy said Brikama District Hospital is the busiest in terms of child and maternal health, thanking MRC for conducting the event at the hospital.<\/p>\n

Chief executive officer of Brikama Area Council, Mam Sait Jallow said the project is significant because it will provide the opportunity to introduce the study in Brikama. He said BAC is concern by the health of the people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
