Essa Dampha, a political aide of President Barrow has branded as politically motivated and totally misleading Binta Nyabally\u2019s testimony at the TRRC, who claimed Adama Barrow and Lamin Cham ran for their lives when soldiers came to Ousainu Darboe\u2019s house in 2016.
\nMadame Nyabally told the TRRC that Mr Barrow and his personal aide Mr Cham ran to hide when the military came to Darboe\u2019s house after the UDP top brass were arrested for demanding the release of Solo Sandeng.<\/p>\n
But speaking in a Standard exclusive yesterday, Mr Dampha said he is curious how and why Binta could only remember the President and Mr Cham.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat happens to the other UDP men at Ousainu\u2019s house? Was it that only Barrow and Lamin Cham were the only men present there? I think they should be commended for being brave to be at Darboe\u2019s house at that difficult moment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dampha added that Barrow and Cham never hid on that very day Nyabally made reference to. \u201cIn fact it was Adama Barrow who locked the compound gate to calm the situation as there were a lot of inflammatory exchanges between the UDP supporters and the soldiers who were outside the compound,\u201d Dampha said.<\/p>\n
He added that Binta Nyabally was not arrested, neither was she taken to court.
\n\u201cThe list of those who were charged and appeared in court are Isatou Saidy, Lili Bojang, Sukai Dahaba, Kaddy Samateh, Fatoumatta Sarra and Amie Touray,\u201d Dampha alleged.
\nDampha, a vocal supporter of President Barrow said contrary to what Binta Nyabally said, the Gambian leader is undoubtedly one of the bravest men in the Gambia, arguing that Barrow\u2019s bravery is unquestionable by virtue of his decision to stand as UDP candidate and the Coalition that eventually defeated Jammeh at a time when the former Gambian leader was at the height of his brutality.
