{"id":20455,"date":"2022-08-16T16:32:31","date_gmt":"2022-08-16T16:32:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/uncategorized\/champions-hawks-fc-finally-coronated-in-grand-style"},"modified":"2022-08-16T18:08:58","modified_gmt":"2022-08-16T18:08:58","slug":"champions-hawks-fc-finally-coronated-in-grand-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/all-news\/champions-hawks-fc-finally-coronated-in-grand-style","title":{"rendered":"Champions Hawks FC Finally Coronated In Grand Style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The champions of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) men\u2019s first division league, Hawks Football Club have been officially crowned and coronated in grand style during a ceremony at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The Reds wrapped up their impressive season on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Team Rhino during their week-30 final fixture of the league played at the Stadium in Bakau.<\/p>\n<p>Captain Omar Sarr came off the bench to score the game\u2019s only goal in the 86th minute for the champions Hawks FC.<\/p>\n<p>The Banjul-based team, Hawks, eventually ended the season with 62 points from 30 matches. They won 19 games, drew 5 and lost 6.<\/p>\n<p>Hawks FC under the guidance of Coach Alieu Jagne scored 38 goals and conceded 17.<\/p>\n<p>The coronation ceremony was presided over by the President of the GFF Lamin Kaba Bajo and attended by high profile dignitaries.<\/p>\n<p>This season\u2019s success has ended Hawk FC\u2019s 26-year wait for a league title and their first trophy since the 2017 FA Cup win.<\/p>\n<p>As the winners of the league, Hawks FC were awarded a giant trophy and cash prize of D750, 000.
