Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) together with the world\u2019s football governing body, FIFA on Monday concluded a training course for 30 elite Gambian referees at the National Technical Centre in Yundum.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the GFF, Bakary K Jammeh, 1st vice president described refereeing as one of the most important components of football development.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo Member Association can exercise its functions in developing or organising football without referees,\u201d Mr Jammeh said, assuring the participants of his executive\u2019s resolve in continuing to build the capacities of referees while thanking FIFA for standing by the Gambia and the GFF in its football development initiatives.<\/p>\n

Mr Abdul Basit Ebrahim, Technical Instructor of FIFA, who doubled as the Course Director said he is very satisfied with the level of commitment and discipline displayed by the participants in the last six days while advising them to always maintain the good name of the country in executing their duties.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Chairman of the Referee\u2019s Association John Frank Mendy expressed delight with the training. He thanked the participants for exercising a high level of maturity and commitment throughout. \u201cWe\u2019re re-closing the training on a high note and I\u2019m happy you guys didn\u2019t let me down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bubacarr Jallow, who spoke on behalf of the local instructors commended the GFF through the Referee\u2019s Manager for their tireless efforts in making the training a success.<\/p>\n

Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of his colleagues, Nfally Jarju was full of praise of the GFF for making all their needs available and promised they will make best use of the knowledge gained. Meanwhile, certificates were handed out to all the participants.<\/p>\n
