Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Many believe that it only takes a divine heart to care and share with others. Therefore, showing compassion in times of need is not only commendable, but a virtue that is encouraged by major faiths in the world. Demonstrating compassion, therefore, is critical in any human endeavour and without it the world would be a worse place to live.<\/p>\n

It is in the news that Trust Bank Gambia Ltd has extended magnanimity to the disaster victims in the country with the presentation of a cheque amounting to one million dalasis. The move is part of the institution’s quest in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility.<\/p>\n

That is what is expected of institutions; extending helping hands to communities in times of need. A lot of people directly or indirectly have dealings with these financial institutions. Therefore, it is only worthy and timely to plough back to these local communities when the need arises.<\/p>\n

Indeed, Trust Bank Gambia Ltd has taken the leadership role and we expect other banks and even other institutions in the country would follow suit. No contribution is small in this case. And no matter how small the gesture is, it would go a long way in changing the living conditions of those affected by the recent flash floods in the country.<\/p>\n

We can all attest to the severity and aftershocks of last July flash flood, displacing thousands of families in the country. It came at a time, when the living condition of many Gambians leaves much to be desired, especially those from poor backgrounds.<\/p>\n

The harsh economic condition in the country amid daily challenges presented by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic has left tongues-wagging. However, with all the challenges presented by the pandemic, the bank has not looked back in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility.<\/p>\n

We must always bear in mind that we are people of faith and the Islamic and Christian religions enjoin everyone to be helpful, compassionate and generous to fellow human beings whenever the need arises.<\/p>\n

When we care about each other, we can together make this small country of ours a shining example among the community of nations. So, once again we register sincere appreciation to Trust Bank Gambia Ltd for the support. We hope other institutions will follow suit. This is what the spirit of patriotism calls for.<\/p>\n
