Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>During an interview with Samba Faal, a youth and a resident of the village, he stated that the recent flood caused a lot of damage due to the ongoing construction of a new road.<\/p>\n

He added that the construction is currently taking place without a proper drainage system and planning, saying there are no waterways built along the road.<\/p>\n

Faal continued that most of the flood victims lost their properties while other communities are inundated with water which caused huge losses to the people.<\/p>\n

He said numerous households are badly affected by the flood, adding that most of them are stranded, helpless and vulnerable. Faal said that the flood in the past few days has caused unprecedented losses which cannot be recovered soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cI extend my heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims who are affected by this natural calamity. Words cannot express how sorry I am about the recent tragic events that have touched us all so deeply, \u201che said.<\/p>\n

Dwelling on the cause of the flood, Faal blamed poor physical planning, lack of implementation of physical planning recommendations, poor drainage system and also settlement on the waterways. He urged the government to look after the people of Sabach Sanjal and take care of them.<\/p>\n
