Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Amongst initiatives undertaken by Government to encourage citizens to get vaccinated included holding regular press conferences to enlighten the masses on the importance of taking the jabs, embarking on nationwide vaccination campaigns, updating and reassuring the public to trust the vaccines, among others.<\/p>\n

However, despite all the efforts most citizens still lack confidence and trust in the vaccines. Amie Njie, a Gambian said the reason she is still hesitant to take the Covid-19 vaccine is she believes it can cause her health complications in future.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will not take the vaccine even if they come to my house or when I visit any health centre,\u201d she said, adding: \u201cthe reason for not taking it is because I do not trust the jab.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fatou Sanneh, who has not also taken the vaccine said, she did not because she is afraid of the side effects. She added that, she cannot determine if the vaccines are good for her system or not and as such cannot take the chance.<\/p>\n

Fatou Conteh, said she is still hesitant of taking the vaccine after seeing her brother\u2019s side effects after he took the jab. \u201cMy brother was sick for more than three weeks after taking the vaccine and that got me worried,\u201d she stated. Ebrima Jallow, said he did not take the vaccine because it is not guaranteed that one will not contract the virus after being vaccinated.<\/p>\n
