Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have prevented nationals of about 20 African countries from entering Dubai, according to Africa News.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is to inform you that we will not be posting 30 days visa applications for these nationalities effective today, October 18, 2022,\u201d the notice pointed out in this regard, VisaGuide.World<\/a> reads.<\/p>\n

The same source has emphasized that citizens from the following countries will be affected by the recent decision introduced by authorities in UAE: Uganda, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Sudan, Cameroon, Nigeria, Burundi, Liberia, Republic of Guinea, Togo, Gambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Benin, Congo, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Guinea Bissau, Burkina Faso, Comoros, as well as the Dominican RepublicThrough a statement issued by authorities in UAE, it has been emphasized that all applications should be rejected.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny applications from the countries mentioned above will be sent back or canceled,\u201d the report notes.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time that authorities in the UAE have introduced such measures. In December 2021, Emirates Airlines stressed that eight African countries would not be accepted to travel through Dubai until further notice. Such a decision was imposed due to the spread of the Coronavirus and its new variants.<\/p>\n

Recently it has been reported that Nigeria has finally evacuated a total of 679 of its citizens who have been stranded in the United Arab Emirates as well as Libya after Dubai slammed a visa ban on young Nigerians.<\/p>\n

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) stressed that 542 young Nigerians weevacuated from Dubai while 137 others arrived at the Murtala International AirportA total of 542 stranded Nigerians in the UAE evacuated by the Federal Government arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on board the @MaxAirLtd chartered flight. The plane touched down at 4.29 am today, October 23, 2022. The evacuees consisted of a total of 79 males, 460 females and three infants,\u201d the Commission pointed out in a tweet.<\/p>\n

In this regard, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) received the 542 Nigerians who arrived from UAE, pointed out the head of the Press Unit at NEMA, Manzo Ezekiel.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll Dubai applications submitted are now rejected,\u201d the UAE authorities said in the notice, adding that the rejections will be sent in batches<\/p>\n

Authorities in UAE previously announced that they decided to ban Nigerians planning to visit Dubai weeks after the country tightened the visa process for prospective visitors.<\/p>\n
