Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>To know what the public makes of these side effects, The Point went out and about to survey the opinion of some social media users within the Kanifing Municipality area.<\/b><\/p>\n

The use of social media has gained much momentum in the twenty-first century, thanks to the invention of the internet and smartphones.<\/p>\n

Elaz Gumbo Lowe, said many people are of the notion that social media is more of a benefit than a consequence<\/b> to its users. However, some experts have come to the conclusion that using social media can actually be harmful to some extent.<\/p>\n

Lowe stated that with social media, people can learn so many things and be able to improve their daily life activities.<\/p>\n

Hamadi Jallow and Beyai Faye both described social media as a double-edged sword as it can be used both negatively and positively. They both urged social media users to make good use of the medium and stop using it negatively.<\/p>\n

Madam Jallow said the level of effectiveness of social media has risen over the years.<\/p>\n

She added that the positive usage of social media could be a very helpful tool in changing a person’s life, but at the same time, it could trigger social unrest such as conflicts which can negatively impact the development of a society.<\/p>\n
