Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>This project, which will take three years will be fully funded by Africell Company.<\/b><\/p>\n

The project will comprise state-of-the-art facilities including two pavilions, a VVIP area, quarters for referee, changing room for football teams and toilets all to be built in the pavilions.<\/p>\n

Talib Ahmed Bensouda, the mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council, said the project would be a win-win-win situation for all three parties (Africell, KMC and Serrekunda West) and would also have an office for both KMC and Africell.<\/p>\n

He described the agreement as historic, adding that KMC\u2019s interest is the sports aspect where youth could come to Serrekunda West Park to train and harness their skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis could be a ground where they can use as their heaven to engage in positive activities. What we want to see in The Gambia is competitive sports structures and national football teams with the economy surrounding it- where footballers would be paid, sponsors having their brands and vendors having their foods and other materials, where jobs can be created as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to him, the project will also have basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, an outdoor gym, restaurant and an administrative building where the committee would manage their events.<\/p>\n

\u201cKMC will have a park and recreational center and Africell will also have an office. The administrative building will also have a VVIP sky-bar, where dignitaries can sit on top and watch football matches.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that the park will have shops which will create incomes for both the sports committee and KMC. \u201cThe income generated will be used to support grassroots football and contribute towards the maintenance and sustainability of the facility.\u201d<\/p>\n

Musa Ndow, president of Serrekunda West Sports Development Organisation (SWESDO), said the mini stadium would not only be the best in the country but across the sub-region when completed.<\/p>\n

Musa Bah, Council of Latrikunda Yeringanya, said the project would be very important not only for his ward but the country at large.<\/p>\n
