Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Washington, D.C. 20 January, 2023: The Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia to the US, His Excellency Momodou Lamin Bah, on Friday 20 January, 2023 signed the Condolences Book to pay tribute to the late Vice President of The Gambia, His Excellency Badara Alieu Joof.<\/b><\/p>\n

The late Vice President died on 18 January in New Delhi, India whilst undergoing medical treatment. Ambassador Bah on Friday said \u201cI have received the news of the demise of His Excellency Vice President Joof with deep sorrow and sadness. I have personally followed with interest and anxiety his short illness. His faith and determination during his illness was a clear manifestation of his personal courage and desire to return to public service to continue to contribute to the national development of The Gambia.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Project Manager of the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) Project, which was funded by the World Bank, I worked very closely with Vice President Joof, who was then the World Bank Liaison Officer in Banjul. Vice President Joof very much facilitated the implementation of the IFMIS, which is now the primary Public Financial Management (PFM) tool for the country. He therefore immensely contributed to the huge success of the PFM reforms agenda within the Government.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, The Gambia is mourning, but I wish to note that Vice President Joof lived a full and exemplary life, which was dedicated to the service of his people and to humanity as a whole. He leaves behind a rich legacy of selfless sacrifice and will be remembered for his invaluable contribution to the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cI convey to his entire family, my deepest condolences on the loss of this illustrious son of The Gambia, and pray that Allah SWT in his infinite mercy grant him eternal rest and may light perpetual shine on him.\u201d<\/p>\n
