{"id":35319,"date":"2023-05-19T16:33:22","date_gmt":"2023-05-19T16:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/?p=35319"},"modified":"2023-05-19T15:54:58","modified_gmt":"2023-05-19T15:54:58","slug":"ngo-forum-passes-resolutions-on-conflict-ridden-states-in-sahel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/all-news\/ngo-forum-passes-resolutions-on-conflict-ridden-states-in-sahel","title":{"rendered":"NGO Forum passes resolutions on conflict-ridden states in Sahel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia. <\/strong><\/span><b>Naji Moulay Lahsen, Executive Director of the Independent Commission for Human Rights in North Africa, (CIDH Africa), has confirmed that the recent NGO Forum has passed resolutions on the Kingdom of Eswatini, on the conflict on the Sahel including Mali, Burkina Faso, Tunisia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.<\/b><br \/>\n<b>The NGO Forum also passed thematic resolutions on migrations and other issues which were all directed to the African Commission on Human and People\u2019s Rights, to see the reflection of the civil society with best solutions.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Executive Director Lahsen spoke in an interview with on the outcomes of the just concluded NGO forum and in line with the ongoing 75th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and People\u2019s Rights currently underway at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center in Bijilo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe talked about many issues such as women\u2019s rights, human rights defenders and freedom of expressions, freedom of assembly and association, people with disabilities and corruption in Africa, among other issues in credible manners to see how we can solve these issues in relation to human rights. During the interest groups, we came up with recommendations and resolutions that would be directed to the African Commission on Human and People\u2019s Rights,\u201d he divulged.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the Forum organized in The Gambia lasted three days in open discussions without <b>taboo,<\/b> where they discussed many issues relating to human rights in Africa with an overview of human rights situations in North, East, South and West Africa and the diaspora. He described the forum as a platform where NGO s could express themselves freely without any hindrance.<\/p>\n<p>He advanced that the NGO Forum had registered numerous achievements through support to hundreds of foreign organizations, building capacities from North, East, West and South of Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a good networking in Africa, we bring our issues to the African Commission, the African Union. We also have network with the Human Rights Council in Geneva, also connection with the United Nations.
