Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Abdoulie Jallow, the former Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), who was recently sacked by the party, has said that his withdrawal from the chairperson race for Kerewan Area Council was due to his health condition and not a bribe from the National People\u2019s Party (NPP). <\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people are aware that I was sick, that\u2019s why I withdrew from contesting, and I am at home with my family. I received their letter at 11pm at night. I read the letter and thanked God. Furthermore, I saw that they had expelled me from the party, and I couldn\u2019t do anything apart from thank them. I withdrew a week before the election, but the committee I was working with on the ground was aware. We are all in the Gambia, and it will be clear whether the National People\u2019s Party was the reason I withdrew. That\u2019s their thinking, but my withdrawal was not my will,\u201d he told King Fm radio.<\/p>\n

Mr. Jallow said at that time he could not continue and if he had continued, it might have created a sad moment for many people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to Lamtoro clinic, and I have my medical paper from Lamtoro and my Party leader visited me at Lamtoro. But if someone is sick, and you didn\u2019t go to check on him, whatever you said about him will just be an opinion. When I was sick, they asked me to write and indicate that the party endorsed Malamin Bojang (the UDP candidate) but at that time, I could not write, but I have discussed it with my committee on the ground about it. And I told my PRO on the ground to announce it the way the party leadership wanted it, and he did that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Abdoulie Jallow, the Public Relation officer of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) was recently sacked by his party after his withdrawal few days to the Mayor and Chairperson election.<\/p>\n
