{"id":37551,"date":"2023-06-21T19:24:10","date_gmt":"2023-06-21T19:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/?p=37551"},"modified":"2023-06-21T18:21:11","modified_gmt":"2023-06-21T18:21:11","slug":"businessman-commended-for-empowering-gambian-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/all-news\/businessman-commended-for-empowering-gambian-women","title":{"rendered":"Businessman commended for empowering Gambian women"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia. <\/strong><\/span><b>The founder and CEO of Njie Charakh World Market has received commendations for his support to Gambian women and the physically disabled community.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Last Week, CEO Njie started a three-month intensive entrepreneurship training for 150 businesswomen in Kanifing.<\/p>\n<p>The training which targets 600 businesswomen every year focus on entrepreneurship, startups and skills.<\/p>\n<p>Alieu Bittaye, a beneficiary and staff of the association of the physically disabled, expressed gratitude over the opportunity presented to him by Njie Charakh. He lamented the plight of the physically disabled in the country, saying they continue to suffer from discrimination and lack opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud of the opportunity presented to us by Mr Njie and we want to assure him that his investment will not go in vain,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said Mr Njie personally visited their office to offer them the opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat shows how considerate he is and we really appreciate his goodwill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that the training will help participants understand how to start a business and be successful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are really enjoying the experience,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Another beneficiary, Awa Bojang of Nema, said she was running a petty business before she was introduced to Njie Charakh.<\/p>\n<p>She said that is how she started collecting goods from Njie Charakh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s how I started and thanks to him today, I have established myself,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Turning to the training, Madam Bojang said she has learned a lot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been in business for years but I have never got to know some of the things I am learning in this training,\u201d she disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>She urged her fellow women to get into business and help themselves.<\/p>\n<p>The beneficiaries commended Njie Charakh for being considerate to the plights of the poor especially women and the physically disabled.<\/p>\n<p>Njie is also credited for offering the best prizes to petty traders and majority of those who started their business through him are now well established.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\">Gambia<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia.
